San Francisco Bay Area artist Mystery Choir (Jonathan Hom) introduces his new single “Seeing Colors” through Toadstool Records - his first release since 2023’s “Love Songs and Hallucinations” LP.
Although written several years ago in his bedroom in Portland, Oregon, Hom breathed new life into the song with an updated recording featuring drums, keys and bass by Michelle Borreggine (ebb, Dreamspoiler, orbiting). “Seeing Colors” is accompanied by the release of a hauntingly beautiful music video recorded at Half Moon Bay in the pouring rain - filmed by Mary Collins and edited by Michelle Borreggine.
In Hom's lyrics, a poignant sentiment emerges—one of a person grappling to comprehend the world, questioning the existence of pain, and seeing life in color amidst the turmoil. The composition carries a wounded idealism, permeating Hom's approach to interacting with the world.
